MODAL VERBS — Sade Anlatım
Modal fiiller (can, may, must, should…) tek başına anlam taşımaz; ardından hep yalın fiil (V1) gelir ve "-meli, -ebilir, -ardı" gibi anlamlar katar. Her modalın anlamını ve geçmiş hâlini (modal perfect) bol örnekle göreceğiz.
Tek Kural: Modal + Yalın Fiil
modal + V1Modal fiillerin tek dilbilgisi kuralı vardır: arkasından her zaman yalın fiil (V1) gelir. Yani -s, -ed, to takmazsın: She must go (✓), she must to go / goes (✗).
Modallar kişiye göre değişmez (he must, I must, they must — hepsi aynı). Olumsuzda sadece not eklenir: should not, cannot, must not.
Should / Ought to — Tavsiye ("-meli")
Advice & ExpectationEn yumuşak öneri/tavsiye modalı. "Bence şöyle yapmalısın" demek. ought to ile eş anlamlıdır.

Can / Could — Yapabilme & Olasılık ("-ebilir")
Ability · Possibility · Polite RequestCan = şimdi yapabilme. Could = geçmişte yapabilme, kibar rica veya zayıf olasılık.

Possibility · PermissionMay = makul ihtimal veya resmî izin. Might = daha zayıf, daha temkinli ihtimal.

Must / Have to — Zorunluluk & Kesin Çıkarım
Obligation · Strong DeductionMust = güçlü zorunluluk veya "kesinlikle öyledir" çıkarımı. Olumsuzu iki ayrı anlama gelir: must not = yasak, don't have to = gerek yok.

should have vs must have
should have V3 = yapılması gerekirdi ama yapılmadı (pişmanlık/eleştiri).
must have V3 = "kesin böyle olmuştur" (kanıta dayalı tahmin). İkisini karıştırma!
